About Tetris
Tetris is a tile-matching puzzle game, first released in the late 1980s for arcade platforms, notably by Atari Games. Its simple premise belies a challenge that has captivated players for decades.
In Tetris, geometric shapes known as tetrominoes begin to descend from the top of the screen. Your task is to guide these falling blocks, rotating them as they fall and shifting them left or right to fit into the gaps at the bottom. The goal is to arrange them so that a complete horizontal line is formed with no empty spaces. When a line is completed, it vanishes, and any blocks above it drop down, potentially creating new line formations.
As you successfully clear lines, the speed at which new tetrominoes appear and fall increases. This constant acceleration demands quicker thinking and reflexes. The game continues until the blocks stack up too high, reaching the top of the playfield, at which point the game ends. Mastering Tetris involves not just reacting to the current block but also anticipating future pieces and planning ahead to set up multiple line clears, known as 'Tetris' when four lines are cleared at once.
