Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is a platform game developed and published by Sega. It was released for the Sega Master System in 1991, introducing players to the company's speedy blue mascot.

In Sonic the Hedgehog on the Master System, you guide the titular character, Sonic, through a series of vibrant and varied zones. Your primary objective is to navigate through each level, collecting golden rings and reaching the goal post at the end before the timer runs out. Sonic's core abilities include running at high speeds and a signature spin dash, which allows him to curl into a ball. This ball form is crucial for breaking through certain obstacles, gaining momentum, and defeating the robotic Badniks that populate the stages. Collecting rings scattered throughout the levels provides Sonic with a protective shield, and accumulating 100 rings grants an extra life.

Each zone is divided into multiple acts, and the player must complete them sequentially. Within these acts, you'll encounter different enemy types like Buzz Bombers and Moto Bugs, as well as environmental hazards. Special stages, accessed by collecting 50 rings in a regular act, offer a different gameplay challenge. The ultimate goal of Sonic the Hedgehog is to thwart the plans of the nefarious Dr. Robotnik, who is kidnapping innocent animals to power his mechanical creations.
