Raid on Bungeling Bay is a classic Top-Down Action Shoot 'em Up game. The original concept was developed by renowned game designer Will Wright (the creator of SimCity and The Sims). The game was ported and published for the Family Computer (FC) platform in Japan by Hudson Soft in 1985. In North America, it was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) by Broderbund.

In Raid on Bungeling Bay, you take control of a powerful attack helicopter with the mission to liberate the islands of Bungeling Bay from an invading force. The primary objective is to locate and destroy all enemy installations and military units spread across a large map before they can launch their nuclear missiles. You navigate the archipelago, scanning the terrain for targets. Your helicopter is equipped with a machine gun for general suppression and air-to-air combat, and missiles for taking down more heavily armored ground targets and structures. You must also keep an eye on your fuel gauge and ammunition count.

To continue your assault, you need to land at friendly bases located on some of the islands. Here, your helicopter can refuel and rearm its missile supply. The game features a day-night cycle, which affects visibility, making nighttime operations more challenging. Destroying enemy carriers and transports helps disrupt their operations, while taking out specific buildings might reveal hidden enemy movements or supply caches. Successfully completing missions requires careful planning of routes, resource management, and precise combat maneuvers against a variety of land, sea, and air threats.
