About Pokemon The New Kanto
Pokemon The New Kanto is a narrative-driven GBA ROM hack created by Regulone328, built on the foundation of Pokemon Fire Red. This is not the Kanto you remember; the timeline has splintered, creating a world filled with anomalies. Instead of a traditional starter, you begin your journey with Riolu and quickly realize that familiar faces and paths have changed. Brock is missing from his gym, Phoebe has replaced Misty, and Giratina roams Saffron City, revealing that Arceus itself has been sealed away.
The gameplay introduces modern mechanics including a Dynamax Band, Mega Evolutions found within 'Dark Rifts,' and the DexNav. The world features a unique blend of cultures, such as the Kanto-Hoenn fusion of Rider Town. New Pokémon variants like 'Toddit'—a Ditto that transforms permanently before battle—add a layer of unpredictability. Players can also unlock Gen 9 starters and encounter roaming legends from multiple generations, including Rayquaza and Dialga, as soon as they reach Vermilion City.
The story takes a darker turn as you uncover the fate of the original heroes. You will face a disguise-wearing MissingNo. on Route 23 and find an aged, dying Brendan in a hidden cave. After defeating Eternatus, the world fractures again: wild Pokémon change, trainer AI shifts, and the final arc begins. With daily rewards like Rare Candies and guaranteed Shiny Lugia or Ho-Oh in the S.S. Anne, this hack offers a challenging and hauntingly beautiful expansion of the Kanto lore.
