About Genki Games
Genki Co., Ltd. is an independent Japanese video game developer founded in 1990. In the mid-1990s, the studio established itself as a pioneer of early 3D gaming on home consoles, pushing the computational and graphical boundaries of the original PlayStation during its launch era.
The studio gained international recognition for developing Kileak: The DNA Imperative (1995), a landmark first-person shooter that served as a PlayStation launch title. Kileak stood out as one of the earliest fully 3D corridor shooters on consoles, tasking players with piloting a heavily armed armored mech through a sinister South Pole research facility. Its impressive multi-layered 3D environments and atmospheric sci-fi tone showcased the capabilities of 32-bit hardware.
Following the success of Kileak and its sequel, Genki expanded its technical expertise into other genres, eventually becoming legendary for its high-speed highway racing series, including Tokyo Xtreme Racer (Shutokou Battle) and Kaido Battle. Across all their projects, Genki has maintained a reputation for solid gameplay mechanics and technical innovation, securing a dedicated cult following worldwide.
