Experience 3D Revolution: The Iconic Nintendo 64
The Nintendo 64 (N64), named for its 64-bit central processing unit, was a groundbreaking home video game console developed by Nintendo. It launched in Japan in June 1996, North America in September 1996, and Europe and Australia in March 1997.
The N64 was notable for being one of the last major home consoles to rely on cartridges as its primary storage format, a trend that largely continued until the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Its innovative three-handled controller, featuring an analog stick, became a standard for 3D games and set new benchmarks for control.
This system was home to a plethora of acclaimed and influential games, including Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and GoldenEye 007. These titles played a pivotal role in establishing many conventions for 3D gaming that are still in use today.
