About the Toy Story Series
Toy Story is an action-adventure platformer that first arrived in 1995, making its debut on platforms like the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, and PC.
The original Toy Story game, developed by Traveller's Tales, put players in charge of Sheriff Woody. You would traverse distinct environments such as Andy's Room, Sid's Room, and Pizza Planet, completing objectives across approximately 15 levels. Core mechanics involved precise jumping and using Woody's iconic lasso to swing across gaps and grab essential items, like Pizza Planet tokens which served as a form of extra life or currency. Sid's mutant toys, like Babyface, presented the main obstacles you had to outmaneuver or defeat.
Later, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue arrived in 1999 as a 3D platformer, primarily letting you control Buzz Lightyear. This game offered a larger scope, featuring around 20 levels spread across worlds like Al's Toy Barn and Zurg's Palace. Buzz could utilize his signature laser, a jetpack for higher navigation, and perform special moves like the Triple Spin to defeat Emperor Zurg's robotic forces. Collecting Pizza Planet tokens and other power-ups was key to progressing through the challenges of this Toy Story adventure.
