Wrecking Crew '98

Wrecking Crew '98 is a demolition action-puzzle game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Famicom in 1998. It builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, Wrecking Crew, but introduces new mechanics and a fresh coat of paint for its era.

In Wrecking Crew '98, your primary task involves navigating through construction site levels to smash specific walls. Each stage presents a layout of different colored walls, and your goal is usually to clear out all instances of a particular color, or reach a certain point. You move your character across the screen, breaking down walls with your trusty hammer. The game requires careful planning as some walls might be needed for traversal later, and others might spawn enemies or hazards when broken. You also have a limited amount of time to complete each level.

This iteration of Wrecking Crew '98 introduces several new elements compared to the original. You can now jump, which opens up new ways to approach levels and avoid obstacles. New enemy types appear, actively trying to thwart your progress or reset broken walls. The variety of wall types has also increased, adding more complexity to the puzzle-solving aspect. Different characters like Spike and Mama are available, each with slight variations in their abilities, offering different approaches to tackling the demolition challenges presented in Wrecking Crew '98.
