Wrecking Crew

Wrecking Crew is an early action-puzzle game by Nintendo, released for the Famicom/NES in 1984. It puts players in the boots of a demolition worker named Foreman Spike, tasked with clearing out buildings.

In Wrecking Crew, your main job is to systematically tear down specific sections of buildings. You move Foreman Spike through sprawling, multi-screen construction sites, using your trusty hammer to smash through bricks, wood panels, and other building materials. Not all walls can be broken; you'll have to identify the ones marked for demolition to clear the level. Getting around involves climbing ladders, jumping between platforms, and carefully timing your movements.

The challenge comes from navigating these environments while avoiding hazards. Enemies like Harry and Eddie patrol the levels, and if they touch you, you lose a life. You can hit them with your hammer, but they respawn. Certain actions, like knocking down ladders you've climbed, can also create problems. To help with the demolition, you can pick up various tools and power-ups scattered throughout the stages. These include a Jackhammer for clearing tougher materials quickly, a Bomb to clear a wider area, and a Paint Roller to make walls temporarily disappear. Using these items effectively is key to clearing the levels efficiently in Wrecking Crew.
