Sonic Chaos

Sonic Chaos is a fast-paced action-platformer game developed by Aspect and published by Sega, released in the early 1990s for the Sega Game Gear.

You navigate through various themed zones, each presenting unique challenges and enemies created by the villainous Dr. Robotnik. Your primary objective is to reach the end of each stage before the timer runs out, all while collecting rings that protect you from damage. If you get hit without rings, you lose them, and losing all your rings means losing a life. The game features a distinct gameplay element where you can switch between three characters: Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, each with their own abilities. Sonic relies on his speed and the spin dash attack, Tails can fly for a limited time, and Knuckles can glide and punch through certain barriers. This character-switching mechanic allows you to approach different sections or puzzles in multiple ways.

Progression involves running, jumping, and using specific character abilities to overcome platforms, traps, and robotic foes. Finding hidden paths or special items can aid your journey. The game also incorporates the search for the seven Chaos Emeralds scattered across the levels. Collecting these emeralds is essential for uncovering the game's full story and achieving the best ending. The environments are designed with speed in mind, featuring loops, springs, and ramps that encourage rapid movement, but careful timing is often required to avoid hazards and enemy attacks.
