How to play RoboCop
You navigate RoboCop through the hazardous streets of Detroit using the D-pad. The B button fires your standard weapon, while the A button allows you to jump. Holding down the A button while pressing the D-pad lets you perform a different jump. You can switch to collected power-up weapons with the Select button.
About RoboCop
RoboCop is a side-scrolling action game released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, based on the iconic film of the same name.
In this NES adaptation, you step into the reinforced boots of Alex Murphy, the titular cyborg law enforcement officer. Your mission involves navigating through various districts of a crime-ridden Detroit, gunning down criminals and robotic drones with your standard-issue pistol. Ammo for your pistol is infinite, but you can find limited-use power-up weapons like shotguns or rocket launchers scattered throughout the levels. Your health is displayed as a percentage, and reaching zero means you fail the mission.
The gameplay progresses through distinct levels, each presenting different enemy types and environmental challenges. You'll need to move carefully, take cover when necessary, and manage your weapon resources effectively. The game features platforming elements, requiring precise jumps and movement to avoid hazards. Boss encounters punctuate the progression, including confrontations with recurring characters and formidable robotic foes.
The NES version of RoboCop aims to capture the gritty atmosphere of the movie, challenging players to survive the onslaught of criminals and complete objectives to restore order to the city.
