Pac-Mania

Pac-Mania is a maze arcade game developed and released by Namco in the late 1980s for the NES. It represents an evolution of the classic Pac-Man gameplay, introducing new mechanics to the familiar dot-gobbling formula.

In Pac-Mania, the player controls Pac-Man as he navigates through various mazes. Your primary objective is to eat every single dot within the maze to clear the stage. As you move, the iconic ghosts – Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde – will chase after you. To turn the tables, you must collect Power Pellets, which temporarily make the ghosts vulnerable and allow Pac-Man to eat them for bonus points. The challenge lies in managing your movement, timing your power-up usage, and planning your route through the maze.

What sets Pac-Mania apart on the NES are its distinct gameplay additions. Pac-Man can now jump, a feature you can use to hop over ghosts or obstacles, adding a new dimension to evasion and navigation. Additionally, Pac-Man can sometimes gain a 'slippery' effect, causing him to slide faster and further, which is useful for quick escapes or covering ground rapidly.
