Metal Slug 7

Metal Slug 7 is a run-and-gun action game developed by SNK Playmore and released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS. It continues the series' tradition of fast-paced, side-scrolling combat against overwhelming odds.

Players take on the role of one of six distinct characters, each with their own unique special attack, as they advance through diverse environments. The core gameplay involves constant movement and shooting, where you'll face waves of enemy soldiers, tanks, helicopters, and bizarre mechanical contraptions. You collect weapon power-ups that alter your primary fire, from machine guns and shotguns to laser beams and homing missiles, each with limited ammunition. Special grenades are also available for clearing groups of foes. A key element is the ability to pilot various vehicles, known as "Slugs," such as the nimble Slug Flyer or the heavily armed Slug Gigant, which offer new offensive and defensive capabilities.

Metal Slug 7 introduces a branching path system, allowing players to choose different routes through certain stages, adding replayability and varying enemy encounters. The game also features an updated weapon system where collected weapon ammo can be combined with your currently equipped weapon, offering more strategic choices in combat. Boss battles are a significant part of the experience, presenting large, multi-phase challenges that require precise movement and weapon management to overcome. The game maintains the series' signature challenging difficulty and over-the-top action.
