About Million
Founded by former Technōs Japan president Kunio Taki, Million Co., Ltd. was established to preserve and advance the legacy of some of gaming's most iconic beat 'em up and sports IPs. After Technōs went bankrupt in 1996, Million acquired the copyrights to their entire catalog, ensuring that series like *Double Dragon* and *River City Ransom* would continue to live on.
The studio is most celebrated for its masterful work on the Game Boy Advance, where they developed *Double Dragon Advance*. Rather than a simple port, this title was a comprehensive reimagining that blended elements from the arcade and NES versions with new moves and stages, often cited by fans as the definitive entry in the franchise. Million also produced *River City Ransom EX* and *Super Dodge Ball Advance*, successfully modernizing the 'Kunio-kun' aesthetic and gameplay for a new generation.
In 2015, Million's catalog was officially acquired by Arc System Works, the current stewards of these classic franchises. While no longer active as an independent developer, Million's role as the bridge between the arcade golden age and the modern era remains a crucial chapter in the history of action gaming.
