About Yoshi's Story
Yoshi's Story is a 2D platformer released for the Nintendo 64 in the late 1990s. It presents a charming world inspired by pop-up books, where players take on the role of a Yoshi.
The main goal in Yoshi's Story is to guide your chosen Yoshi through each level, which are presented as pages in a storybook. You progress by moving from left to right, aiming to reach the end of the page. Along the way, you'll encounter various enemies. Yoshi can eat these enemies, turning them into eggs. These eggs can then be thrown at other enemies or objects to defeat them or reveal hidden paths and items. Collecting fruit is also a key objective, often contributing to your score or helping you unlock secrets.
A distinctive feature of Yoshi's Story is its visual presentation, which mimics the look and feel of a children's storybook, complete with turning pages between stages. Players can select from different colored Yoshis, each offering a slightly different gameplay feel or ability, though the core mechanics remain consistent. The game focuses on exploration and skillful platforming, encouraging players to discover all the secrets each page holds.
