Wario's Woods

Wario's Woods is a puzzle game developed by Nintendo R&D1 and published by Nintendo, originally released for the NES in 1994.

In Wario's Woods, you take on the role of Woodsy, a sprite dedicated to protecting the forest from the mischievous Wario. Gameplay centers around a unique object-pushing mechanic. Monsters of various colors and explosive bombs fall from the top of the screen. You control Woodsy at the bottom and can move left and right to position yourself. When you stand next to a falling object, you can pick it up and push it upwards into a growing stack.

The primary goal is to create matches of three or more identical monsters in a row, either horizontally or vertically, to make them disappear. Bombs play a crucial role; if you push a bomb onto a stack of monsters and it completes a match of three, the bomb explodes, clearing the matched monsters. If the bomb doesn't form a match but is pushed upwards, it will explode and clear everything directly above it. You must carefully manage the falling objects and your pushes to prevent the stack from reaching the top of the screen.

As you progress through levels in Wario's Woods, the pace quickens, and new challenges emerge, requiring sharper reflexes and more strategic planning. Wario himself sometimes intervenes, making your task harder. Successfully clearing designated numbers of monsters or surviving specific durations allows you to advance, all while defending the woods from Wario's persistent threats.
