Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! is a 3D platformer developed by Insomniac Games, originally released for the PlayStation in the late 1990s.

In this installment, you take control of Spyro as he's unexpectedly pulled from his home dimension into the world of Avalar. The inhabitants of Avalar, including fairies, wizards, and various creatures, are in trouble because Ripto, a tyrannical dinosaur-like being, has arrived and is causing chaos. You'll explore a series of interconnected worlds, starting from the hub world of Avalar and venturing into distinct realms like the Summer Forest, Autumn Plains, and Winter Tundra. Each realm contains multiple levels that you access through portals. Your primary goal is to gather items, primarily gems and dragon eggs, to progress and eventually confront Ripto.

Gameplay involves navigating these colorful environments, using Spyro's core abilities: his flame breath to attack enemies and activate switches, his charge attack to break through obstacles and defeat certain foes, and his glide to cross gaps. As you play, you'll learn new moves from characters like Hunter, such as the head-bash and the super-flame, which open up new areas and combat possibilities. Beyond simple collection, many levels feature specific objectives, like rescuing lost dragons, winning races, or completing obstacle courses. There are also dedicated mini-games and boss battles against Ripto's generals, leading up to the final confrontation.

The worlds are filled with inhabitants who often need Spyro's help, offering side quests or information. The progression system relies on collecting a certain number of items to unlock new hub areas and advance the story.
