About Pokemon Sword and Shield Ultimate
Pokemon Sword and Shield Ultimate is a GBA ROM hack based on FireRed, created by PCL. G & Jean Stars. It serves as a 'demake,' attempting to faithfully recreate the story and world of the Nintendo Switch titles (Sword & Shield) on the Game Boy Advance engine. Players travel through a fully pixelated version of the Galar region, encountering the full roster of Generation 8 Pokémon.
Powered by the CFRU (Complete FireRed Upgrade) system, the game features modern mechanics including the Physical/Special split, Fairy typing, and updated movesets. It stands out by including all three major battle gimmicks: Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, and Gigantamax. The Gigantamax mechanic is fully functional; players must equip a compatible Pokémon with a 'Wishing Star' and press 'Start' during battle to activate it.
The game includes the iconic Wild Area with visible Pokémon in the overworld and Raid Battles. It also offers significant Quality of Life improvements such as the DexNav, an IV/EV system, and the 'Exp All' (Shared Experience) item. Trade evolutions have been adjusted to use a 'Trade Stone,' allowing players to complete the Pokédex solo.
