Pokemon Odyssey

Pokemon Odyssey is a unique FireRed ROM hack that abandons the traditional Gym challenge for a story-driven dungeon crawler experience. Inspired by 'Etrian Odyssey' and 'Made in Abyss', you play as Nyx, a young adventurer on the island of Talrega. Your goal is to descend into the Yggdrasil Labyrinth, a massive maze carved from the roots of the tree of life, to uncover the truth, despair, and hope hidden within its strata.

The gameplay is fundamentally different from standard Pokémon titles. All battles are Double Battles (unless you have only one Pokémon), and the use of healing items in combat is disabled, requiring strategic team building. There are no Gym Leaders or Elite Four; instead, you must defeat 'Captains' to progress through the Labyrinth's layers. The game incorporates Etrian Odyssey mechanics such as Mining and Gathering points, Naval Exploration, and the presence of powerful wandering enemies known as FOEs.

Pokemon Odyssey streamlines the RPG experience to focus on strategy over grinding. All Pokémon (wild and trainer-owned) have perfect 31 IVs, and EVs are gained through vitamins rather than battles. Features include a Soft Level Cap to maintain difficulty, Generation VI-style Exp. Share, and new regional forms called 'Etrian Variants'. With three difficulty modes (Picnic, Normal, Hard) and a roster spanning the first three generations plus later evolutions, it offers a fresh, challenging take on the Pokémon formula.
