In Marvel Super Heroes, you select a pair of characters to compete in matches. The core gameplay revolves around executing combos by stringing together punches and kicks, blocking incoming attacks to defend yourself, and managing your character roster. You can switch between your chosen heroes mid-fight, which allows for extending attack strings with a fresh character or escaping pressure by bringing in your secondary fighter. Each fighter has their own unique special moves, like projectile attacks or command throws, and a powerful 'Infinity Storm' super move, which requires charging a special meter by landing hits or taking damage.

Distinctive elements of Marvel Super Heroes include the presence of Infinity Gems that appear during matches. Collecting these gems, which might drop after a powerful hit or appear in fixed locations, temporarily grants your character specific powers. For instance, one gem might boost your attack power, while another might grant invincibility for a short duration, adding a strategic resource management layer to the fighting. The game features a roster of popular Marvel icons, such as Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Wolverine, Magneto, and Psylocke, each brought to life with vibrant sprites and animations, battling across stages inspired by comic book lore.
