Langrisser is a tactical role-playing game developed by Masaya and released in the early 1990s, making its mark on the Sega Genesis.

In Langrisser, you step into the role of Prince Ledin of the Baldea Kingdom, tasked with reclaiming the stolen sacred sword, Langrisser, and rallying forces against the invading Dalsian Empire. Gameplay unfolds on a grid map where you control your hero and their accompanying troops. Each turn, you select units to move and attack, considering terrain, enemy positions, and troop types. Your hero's strength is amplified by the troops they command, which can be varied, from knights and archers to flyers and even monsters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.

A key aspect of Langrisser involves managing these troop formations and deciding when to engage or retreat. Heroes can also learn spells and, as they gain experience, promote to different classes, unlocking new abilities and improving their stats.
