Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross is a role-playing game developed by Square, originally released for the PlayStation in 1999/2000.

The story of Chrono Cross unfolds through the eyes of Serge, a young man from a peaceful seaside village. His ordinary life is upended when he finds himself in an alternate dimension where he died a decade earlier. This bizarre paradox thrusts Serge onto a journey to understand the divergence between these two worlds – one where he thrives and one where he perished – and to find a way to bridge the gap before reality itself unravels.

Gameplay in Chrono Cross involves exploration, character recruitment, and a unique combat system. You can recruit over 40 distinct characters, each with their own stories and abilities, to form your party. Battles are turn-based, featuring a stamina gauge that replenishes each turn and influences the power of your actions. Characters can equip 'Elements,' which are consumable magical spells and skills that must be recharged after use. The game's progression often hinges on switching between the 'Home World' and 'Another World' dimensions to access different items, solve environmental puzzles, or discover new paths.
