Alien vs. Predator

Alien vs. Predator is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up released in arcades during the early 1990s. Developed by Capcom, it brought the iconic science fiction crossover to coin-operated machines.

In this arcade title, you select one of three distinct playable characters: the Colonial Marine, the Yautja Predator, or the Xenomorph Alien. Each character offers a different combat style and moveset. The Marine uses firearms and grenades, the Predator employs plasma casters and cloaking devices, and the Alien relies on its natural speed, sharp claws, and tail attacks.

The gameplay involves progressing through various stages, engaging groups of enemies that include facehuggers, drones, and warriors, often leading up to challenging boss encounters. Standard beat-'em-up mechanics are in play, where you move across the screen, using a combination of regular attacks, special moves, and sometimes defensive maneuvers to clear each area before moving forward. The game also supports two-player cooperative play, allowing friends to team up against the alien threat.

The arcade version of Alien vs. Predator was noted for its detailed sprite work and atmospheric presentation, capturing the dark tone of the franchise. Players worked through missions, fighting through industrial complexes and alien nests, aiming to overcome the combined threat of the Xenomorphs and other hostile forces.
