About TAD Corporation Games
TAD Corporation was a Japanese video game developer founded in 1988 by Tadashi Yokoyama and a team of former employees from Data East. The company focused exclusively on the arcade market and established a reputation for distinct visual styles and comical yet challenging gameplay.
They are most famous for two major hits: 'Cabal' (1988), which pioneered a new sub-genre of 'behind-the-back' fixed shooters, and 'Toki' (1989, known as 'JuJu Densetsu' in Japan). Toki became a cult classic due to its unique premise of a slow-moving ape protagonist who spits energy balls, setting it apart from the fast-paced action games of the era.
Other notable titles include 'Blood Bros.' (a spiritual successor to Cabal set in the Wild West) and 'Heated Barrel'. The company ceased operations around 1993, but their legacy lives on, with many assets and staff later associated with Mitchell Corporation.
