Founded in 1989 as AKI Corporation, the studio was initially famous for creating some of the greatest professional wrestling games of the Nintendo 64 era, including 'WWF No Mercy' and 'WCW/nWo Revenge'. In 2007, the company rebranded as syn Sophia and made one of the most unexpected and successful pivots in gaming history.
Leaving the wrestling ring behind, syn Sophia partnered with Nintendo to create 'Style Savvy' (known as 'Girls Mode' in Japan and 'Style Boutique' in Europe) for the Nintendo DS in 2008. This fashion simulation game was a massive global hit, praised for its deep inventory management, styling mechanics, and charming presentation, spawning multiple successful sequels on the 3DS.
